Is this a tricolor or bruising?

My doe babycakes and buck Jose produced this kit. I was surprised to see it. I see what appears to be three colors so my thinking is it is a tricolor. Mom is a broken chestnut and dad is a chestnut. I've got REW, 3 colors of broken, chestnut, fawn and I think black before.

Hopefully these pictures will show up, photobucket is down so I'm trying to link them from my nestbox page on my site.

Looks like a torted tri color. Will have to wait a bit until it develops more and look at the nose markings and at the color (if any) on the ears. It doesn't look like it has much color in either spot lol. Congrats though! DM Lionhead right?

Hmm I can see why. What are the parents? That may give some clues as well. I've seen torts that clean and bright in color, but usually you see some shading at least on the sides and in the nose. The wool fuzzing out the color as they grow doesn't always help when trying to get colors right lol. This is one of the more unique markings on one too :)

I just see a broken tort.

A tri (broken harlequin) would have darker areas on the back and lighter areas on the belly. This is just a very striking tort with a distinctly lighter back and dark belly

Here are the parents, doe first, I need to take another picture of the doe, she had a litter when I took the photo and had pulled fur.

I'd be interested in seeing an updated pic of this baby.
Personally, even in tri's, I've never seen color patterns so separate and so definitive.

Any follow up?

Here are some updated pictures. The color differences are not as dramatic as they were before. I was going through some old pictures of litters from the parents and one kit had the same dark and light colors. Once the rabbit got a couple of weeks old the darker color disappeared. Bummer.

Dood wins!

Funny how the color patterns on different breeds appear a little different.
Very cute little bunny and adorable tiny ears!
