Is this a throw back .???

I noticed a off white rabbit in the nesting box of my purebred californian. EEk. what the heck...Is this a throw back or is this normal and will grow out it coat to a white later on. ?
IT is a bit smaller than the rest. Cute little thing. Healthy.It really looks grey in the pic. It isnt as dark as it looks. But you can really notice the difference . What do you think?

Yup, this Q has been asked a lot this summer that I've noticed. Kit got cold first days of life and the fur darkened because of it.
I had one like that, was hoping it would stay gray, but it wasn't meant to be.

actually yes it did got chilled. .... I am glad it will go back to normal when it molts. THanks guys.

I had one my last litter. He was the runt, but when his colored changed he had the darkest, most striking markings. I sold him as a pet.

Only in certain breeds.

I truly can't believe how dark that kit is compared to it's siblings. Amazing what temperature does to some breeds.

I know Karen. What happened to that one. Because it was smaller she hung on to mommy teet and came out of the nesting box and because it was only 2 days old at the time and no babysaver on the cage. She went throught the hole and on to the ground and she or he crawled a far distance it was the dog that found it. If it wasnt for the dog it would of been dead. So she or he got really cold.

What did the dog do with the baby? Just point it out to you, or lay with it, or what?

she was trying to grab it. It is ok and growing like a mad weed
