My sister's Lionhead kindled two days ago.

One living kit, three DOAs.

Totally normal looking, adorable kit:

Until you flip him over, and for lack of better words, the top of his genitalia appears swollen and shiny.

Not a great image, I know.

Any ideas what might be going on here?

Also, is it likely he'll have issues, being an only kit?

What a cute little guy! You can tell he is nursing enough to make up for his lost siblings. ;)

I think he may just be dribbling a bit of urine rather than emptying his bladder all at once. The general consensus here at RT is that the does don't lick their kits "down there" to stimulate them to potty, rather it is the movement of the kits against one another in the nest that makes them go.

It looks to me like he has a rash from poop or pee. You can put some ointment on it. "A & D Ointment" is specific for diaper rash, but I think something like Neosporin would work just as well. I would also suggest wiping him with a warm wet cotton ball or piece of tissue to stimulate him to go potty a couple of times a day for a few days.

I think he's doing okay and that the swelling might have gone down today. Thanks for the advice :)
