This morning our fuzzy lop had 5 babies. We notice that when she is in the box (the doe) it's TIGHT. About the same length and width as her (I think 12" x 8"). I don't think there is any way for her to nurse when these kits get larger.

I have a brand new (never used) 16" x 9" and was thinking about transferring the entire nest/kits into it later today.

Would that be ok, or will the doe abandon the kits?

Thank you.

I've never ever had a doe abandon a nest for any reason.
You should have no trouble swapping boxes, just make sure to keep all the fur she pulled..
Normally a doe will nurse any similarly sized kits that are available when her teats are swollen with milk.

From what I've seen, rabbits do not feed the babies because they believe them to be hungry, they feed for relief.
Any complication I may have ever had with a nursing doe has been smoothed out by removing the nestbox until feeding time.
