Around the end of June my boyfriend bought me an Lionhead as a pet. He was about 8 weeks old then (no pedigree). Francis is still VERY wooly. I thought he was supposed to lose the wool on his saddle area by now? I'm not complaining, he's beyond cute as it is, but I'm curious. The only photo I have doesn't show his body well, but I'll post it anyways (because it's CUTE!)

You might recognize him from awhile back, I posted pictures of Francis when I first got him.

i'm not very familiar with lionheads, but that is the fuzziest 4 month old i've ever seen. do you think its possible he had an angora parent or angora in his background? its hard to know since he has no pedigree. :hmm: how much does he weigh? if that was my rabbit i would be tempted to show it as an EA

-- What is a Teddy/Wooly Lionhead?--
A Teddy or Wooly is a Lionhead with a very active wool gene. Meaning that they are usually more wooly than a regular Lionhead. They are usually double maned and have wool over their whole body. They can also have wool on their face and ears. This is usually not shed even when they are Seniors. They are not showable but can add wool to your herd. For instance if you have a rabbit which doesn't have much of a mane but has a great body type - you can use your Teddy to create better maned babies with nice bodies.

once a rabbit has wool...it has wool lol
Its a lot like a jersey wooly(vermin rabbits)exept has a mane lol

Nah he was cheap lol. She sold him to me as a pet because he has a bobbed tail anyways. This is the first "vermin" rabbit I've ever owned (vermin as in tiny useless critters) and I have to admit, he's a lot easier to love on then Pepper.

He could still shed out in his saddle area if he is only 4 months old. My doe is a teddy and she did eventually shed out on her back, but she still has too much wool on her face, ears and flank. She produces kits with very nice manes though when I breed her to my double mane buck that lost his mane as a senior.

He is soooooo cute ! Yes, he is way too wooly but he is dang cute. He wants to come visit me & make babies with my Cookie, she is lacking in wool.

Licorice was very wooly when he was young, but now at 15 wks he has lost most of it except his mane & a lil bit on his flank. [album]456[/album]
