and I am hoping to get a buck to breed soon

Not to familiar with Holland Lops, but your doe is lovely. Hollands just have the sweetest faces. Wishing you all the luck in finding a buck to start your Holland program. By the time you find one, your doe should be very settled in and could help the breeding be successful. Fingers crossed.

Hope you post when you find your buck and let us know how it is all going.

Her genotype is

A_ B_ C_ dd ee Vv ENen

I may be able to fill in the blanks if you can tell me the colours of her parents.

Would you like recommendations on what colour buck to breed her to and what you you need to improve upon?

yes

Alright.

I cannot help much with body type as I dont breed Hollands and don't show my Mini Lops but this is what I see...
- your does ears look a little too far back on her head (also called "slipped crown") if you breed her to a male with ears like this you may get bunnies who's ears do not lop properly and they may stick out like airplanes.
- in your pictures her back feet seem to be point outwards (also called 'pinched hips') and it can make giving birth more difficult. Again, if you breed to a male with this her daughters will have even worse pinched hips.

Like I said, I am not expert on Holland lop body type but you can ask others if they think she has a slipped crown or pinched hips.

As for colour, it really depends on what colours you would like.
If you breed her to another fawn you will get fawn, broken fawn and vienna carrying fawn.
If you breed her to a Vienna marked buck you can get Blue Eyed Whites, broken and vienna carriers
If you breed her to a broken every kit will have the broken pattern and some will be nearly white 'charlies'

Let us know what colour you would like to try and get and we can tell if it is possible and what colour male to choose.

Do you know what colour her mother or father were?

broken (any color)
no matter who you breed her to you will get some broken kits, because she has a broken pattern.

If you breed your doe to a harlequin or tri colour male then you will get this colour.

blue or black (solid)
If you breed your doe to a blue male you will get solid (also called 'self') and broken blues, and you could also get black or chestnut or opal in solid and broken colours.

Lynx (solid)
It would be very difficult to get this colour with your doe but you can get solid and broken Opal instead

smoke pearl (solid)
It would be very difficult to get this colour with your doe.

A tri is just a broken harli, so if you get a tri to breed her to, you will have all three of these.

Very cute little doe!
From what I can tell, I would say that her head, ears, and (from what I can see in the pictures) hips are the areas that you will want to focus on improving in her litters.

A very good resource for correct Holland Lop posing, pictures, etc, and much more information on rabbits/breeding in general (one I have been using ever since I started with bunnies :D ) is http://www.thenaturetrail.com. Here are several links that I love on the subject:

:) Good luck with your bunnies, and I look forward to seeing more picture in the future! :bunnyhop:

I would get a harlequin male. I would not breed her to a Tri or broken. You may get rabbits that are nearly all white with only a little colour.

They can be rare in Holland Lops, so make sure he has good hips and a good crown as well.

thanks!
those links are cool!
I'll be taking some more pics...
the first 2 are old

so....
I've looked all over for a harli holland but i cant find any...
ive found solids and brokens but...
what would happen if I used a solid?

one website that i found that raises hollands
http://mysecretrabbitry.weebly.com/for-sale.html

There are some nice rabbits on that website. They have some tris. I would e-mail and ask them let you know if they get any nice harlequin bucks.

Here are some breeders in California

http://rabbitbreeders.us/california-rabbit-breeders

If you cannot get a harli, I would choose a tri.

Because your doe is cream she probably won't have solid colour kits if you breed her to a solid, she will probably have chestnut.

If you breed her to a broken, the colour of the kits will depend on the colour on the broken father.

ok.....
there pretty expensive,

They do have Vienna Marked rabbits

i found another one

Really nice line. I bred a Blue Tort to a Broken and got two REW's and two Torts. The Tort kits are really turning out to be lovely rabbits. But when I got my breeding pair, I wasn't looking at color, but more on good conformation of the breed. And it definitely worked. Know color is fun and exciting, but I would start out with good conformation and get the experience and then move to whatever color you really want.

Wishing you all the luck in finding that perfect buck to go with your lovely doe.
