Royal had ear mites in the spring.
None of the others, treated everyone, used DE etc.
He cleared up.
They are back (or never really left), again only Roy.
They all live on wire, nothing to harbour mites.

And the mineral oil isn't doing it.
What do I try next?

Also, it concerns me about his immune system... The other rabbit I got from the same place I had to cull for snot and sneezing months ago. So maybe not the healthiest stock? But he is a GREAT easygoing buck who makes great babies. Ugh.

Ivermectin. I am not sure of the dose, but if you search the keywords "ivermectin ear mites" a whole slew of threads should pop up. :)

Listerine will also clear them up in short order .... I've used it on both rabbits & cats to treat ear mites.

Wow, really?!

It's likely the alcohol content. When I was a kid my friend and I used to collect Black widows, and we would preserve them in rubbing alcohol.

Gruesome, I know :x , but there you have it. My sordid past of arachnid cruelty is revealed.

Thankfully way past the statute of limitations.

Ramjet, they don't wig out when you treat them? :? Alcohol stings like the dickens on abraded skin.

MSD my mother showed me how toads pop in a paper bag over the fire when I was a kid.
So I'm there with you.

I was thinking that listerine would hurt like a son of a gun (and Roy is already mightily ticked at me for the oil treatments!).

:fainting: :fainting: :fainting:

TOADS?!?!?!?

  I love toads.

It did just occur to me that my torture by alcohol of arachnids continues to this day... when I pull ticks off of the dogs or remove cattle mites from their ears I drop the little blood suckers into a container of alcohol. They don't last long.

Nope , the Rabbits don't act any differently with Listerine than when I've treated them with mineral oil.

Cats on the other hand ..... freak out with either treatment.

I'm tempted to try this treatment for this case of fur mites that I just cant seem to get rid of .... third dose of Ivermectin .... and still haven't eradicated it.
Thinking they are a result of my neighbors stray cats .... they may need eradication.
