Identifying rabbits

I have a question. I would like to identify my meat rabbits. They are not show rabbits. I do have a tattoo pen but it is not a fast process and at this point I want fast.

I do have cavy ear tag equipment. Has anyone used cavy ear tags on their rabbits? Please share what you know!

Is it overly painful?

Do they rip out?

In which part of the ear would you put them?

You could always notch their ears. Right ear for bucks, left for does, etc. Just an idea.

Just my opinion because I have thought on this, too. I wouldn't use tags on rabbits, since rabbits are always messing with their ears. It seems bound to rip out. I agree that notching the ears might work. Seems they notch each other's some times! :shock:

Hmmm, I need to have more info than just male and female. Too many notches needed.

No advice unless maybe trying a clamp type... I am hoping to get one but haven't taken the financial plunge yet. I am terrible with the pen :roll:
