I went to check on Alice last night as it was day 30 for her, and she was in the nest box. She appeared ok, and perhaps was having contractions. So I left her alone for the night. I got up this morning all excited about the possibility of kits, open the barn door and found her all stretched out beside the box, and no reaction to the door opening. Not a good sign, I then opened her cage door and sure enough stiff as a board, no kits. She had gone off feed a week ago, but was still eating hay and drinking. She had very little poops that week also. I am not experienced enough to open her up and check things out, I wish I was...... just a bummer of morning :weep:

What a bummer indeed. Very sorry you have to deal with this. I wouldn't know what to look for either. I haven't a clue what could have gone wrong. Only thing I could think of was she bled out internally. That is just a wild guess.

not eating well.
small poops.

probably wool block or entropathic illness of some sort.....

Bummer to lose them....

Thanks everybody, as the progressed it did get better.

Betty (Alice's daughter) was also bred the same day. I took Alice to a friends farm to rest and when I returned I found Betty with a hay and fur stache! This was around noon today

To the best of my ability I count 8 for now, maybe I will find a doe in this batch to keep to take Alice's spot

I'm seeing a LOT of cases on here with does who go off feed before they should.

I have it crop up in my own buns from time to time. It's something about the pellets, they just don't want them anymore.
Adding oats/hay/and easily digested herbs (cilantro, fennel, parsley, etc) seems to get them through alright.

I don't know if that would have helped in your situation, but it's been working for my buns, so I thought I'd share.
