I have to do something about Rascal-- he eats well, is free of parasites, but is just plain lanky! Sure, he is adolescent, basically. While cuddling with him this evening-- he is just too bony--- definitely not a good 'type' for a meat rabbit. But so friendly and loveable. I find it hard to justify spending money on a supplement just because one rabbit needs it-- But I guess some sunflower is in order here. everyone else is nice and Chunky-- it wil be hard not to treat them with the high calorie food, but, Rascal is deserving of a little extra weight... I LIke my animals lean but Rascal is too darn bony!!!

Hopefully he will shape on up! :bunnyhop: Good luck with him!

__________ Thu Dec 29, 2011 10:43 pm __________

Hopefully he will shape on up! :bunnyhop: Good luck with him!

this fella does not need extra energy-- perhaps I should tie him down!!! force him to be sedentary! He did really w el on the fresh forage all summer-- maybe that is his desire-- to be a fresh fodder animal!!

If he's in the lanky awkward looking stage I'd leave him. You don't need to pack weight on them at that time and if he's active and eating he should be getting what he needs. Some of them just go through stages like that. I'll probably last less than a month and you'll start packing on the weight to be like his siblings. We were just commenting on how Shimo is cute and fluffy again. When we got her she was this tiny cute fluffy ball. For about a month she was a long lanky, somewhat ugly rabbit with her hip and shoulder bones sticking out. Now she is a nice round well fleshed ball again just 10 times the size she was when we got her.
