In my other thread, the ones from tsc or places like that were mentioned. The complaint was the j-clips I think. Would it be worth it to get the cages, knowing I will need to beef up the clips? I really need to get going on my new stacking wire cages, but shipping is going to kill me. I can get the tsc ones locally (we finally had a tsc open locally!). We also have a Cal-Ranch, and an IFA.

Some people complain about the TSC cages, but, I have a few, they are about 5 years old. They haven't fallen apart, rusted through, caved in, or self destructed.

Do you have your meat rabbits in them? What size cages do you have?

The TSC cages I have are 24 by 24. I had dutch rabbits in them for a while, then mini Rex rabbits. They sat empty for a couple years, now there are mini lop bucks in two and a Jr californian doe in one.

I have 4 tsc stacking cages, 30x36.
I have 2 mini lop does, 1 dutch doe and 1 dutchXmini lop doe.
I do not like the plastic clips and will probably replace the ones on the sides with j-clips. I like to be able to open the top of the cages, so I probably won't change the clips around the top.

Today, I added a modification so I can easily roll the cages around. I attached a 2x4 across the bottom legs and attached wheels to the 2x4s. Works great! :D

I should add, when I got mine, they didn't have the plastic clips, mine were put together with j clips.

They used to make them with better clips. Most are plastic now. :(

I do think they are worth buying, actually. Especially if you take just a few moments to replace the clips. My one complaint is that I can't stand doors that swing in. It makes rabbits nervous when the door suddenly pops open in their face. This can make for an anxious rabbit. However, if you can be careful never to let the door surprise them, this is a very good cage for the money.

I have three TSC cages. I did use j-clips to put them together and I took the door off and rehung it the way I like them. (I hate the doors that swing in). The other thing I don't like are the ridges on the plastic trays, makes them extremely difficult to clean. If you're willing to make a few changes, it's easier than starting from scratch but the cages I buy from a local guy are much better made and he makes them exactly the way I specify.

I didn't even CONSIDER rehanging the door!!! Wow. I'm gonna look at them tomorrow and see if I can make that work. I do not like the way the doors swing in!

I've put out some feelers and haven't found anyone local. I wish I could.

I'm not sure where in Utah Payson is, but there is a guy "Arizona Cage Crafters" that is at almost every show in Arizona. I believe he will be at the Pasquitch, Utah show (spelling?) the middle of August. He will make anything you want and bring to the show. I know KW cages come to some of the bigger shows in CA, Nevada, Utah and Arizona. They will bring your order to the show and save all shipping prices.
