Sassy, one of the "Three Furies", had 8 babies yesterday! :mbounce:
She is a first timer, made an awesome nest, had them all in the box and just about pulled herself bald to cover them in fur! Now I am really rethinking my plans to cull her and her two sisters....depends on how well they do as moms, they are due after Christmas. The problem is they are not pedigreed. I have Mom and Dad with me, but that is all I know about their history. I may keep out the best from their litters and grow them out to get some kits that are pedigreed. Trying to work to ward all my rabbits being fully pedigreed.

Congatulations on Sassy's popples! :wbounce:

If they are good producers, I would worry less about the lack of pedigree than if they are just average moms. I understand that pedigreed rabbits are worth more if you are selling as breeding stock, but meat in the freezer is important too.

You have THREE Evil Bunnies??? Poor you!

Actually, it will make a nice little case study... seeing if they turn sweet or at least bearable after they kindle. Evil Blue can be part of the study too. :) I think I am seeing some improvement in her already, but I've been working with her since long before I bred her.

Maybe the Evil ones make the best Moms because they are so aggressive... what a terrible thought- "Wow, this bunny is so beautiful and just so sweet!" "Yes, I know. It's a pity she's not Nasty. She's headed for the Crockpot tomorrow." <SHUDDER!!!>

Congrats on the new Popples! I can't wait for my next litters, especially since I bred back to the sire. Curly popples are coming, I feel it in my bones! :D

Well, it is not that they are EVIL per se, just kind of psycho....they would twitch and run and squeal like pigs when I tried to handle or pet them. With Sassy it was pretty much even if I LOOKED like I was going to touch her. When together in a cage, they would chase each other in circles, squealing like pigs. Now that they have been on their own for several months, they are getting more use to us. Sassy is the one hold out, although she *has* been better lately. She even lets me scratch her head without giving me the stink eye. All three will let us pick up and carry them now without shredding us. So, all in all, they are really settling out...
