I'm off this morning and decided to raid the vacant house near me for greens. I've been eying the dandelions and clovers every time I drive by.

Well there were several patches of clovers, knee high. I am surprised the city hasn't come to cut them down. I will make sure I transplant them before the week is over. I gathered lots of plantain, dandelion, chicory and broad-leaf dock. I filled a five gallon bucket. The buns were thrilled, and they ate till they were full, and there was still some left over. I can really ave on my feed bill until plants die back in late fall if I can do this at least twice a week, maybe three, and feed pellets the other days.

I think I saw shepherds purse and lambs quarters there as well, though they were kind of small. I'm going to collect dandelions seeds, there were at least 50 that had gone to seed.

That's great! Free bunny food, and providing a community service by removing those "unsightly weeds", LOL! Happy transplanting!

I've been slowly building them up with a few leaves, then a handful each day, for probably a month now. The three who were sick got nothing but hay, lemon balm and dandelions for a while (two weanlings and one nursing doe). Now my show buck won't eat his pellets, he just begs at the door until I bring fresh foods, so I figured I'd better get serious about finding some greens for the group. For a while it was just him getting greens instead of pellets. Today was the first time the adults did not get any pellets, except the nursing doe. They will get pellets tomorrow, and greens again Sunday.

My rabbits scored well this morning--and yes, it is SOO nice to be feeding them enough fresh green food that they leave some behind! Did more transplanting into the bunny garden container, as well. I need to get more containers!!!
