Anyone have any pic's of outdoor hutch's they have made. I've got an idea in my head,just not sure how to do it. I'm thinking 8ft long,2ft wide, and 2ft tall in back,18 in in front. It would be split in half by a piece of plywood. I would put a enclosed area 18in wide on each end. I'm also thinking of a plywood roof that would open,and wire would be on bottom, front, and back. If you understood any of that what do you think. Thanks Tom

It sounds great...for two rabbits. If you divided it into thirds, maybe 9 feet long in total, or even 8 feet, really, you could house your wanted buck and two does. You could also make the dividers out of wire. If you're going to have the top raising up in order to get to the rabbits, I would rethink that. It will be hard to hold up and manipulate the rabbits at the same time. I would have doors on the front. Also, rabbits are prey animals, and anything coming at them from above will scare them.

A few tidbits I have learned about cage making:

- for the floor wire, use 1/2 x 1 inch wire;

- 1x2 inch wire is fine for the sides;

- for any doe cage, add a 4 inch strip of floor sized wire along all the sides to protect babies.

Good luck with your project and I look forward to pics as you go!

Thanks. I was planning on making two of them, one to keep the does and the other for a buck and the little ones till butchering time.
