I have a six foot long rabbit hutch that is built to house two bunnies, but it's not separated yet. We are going to separate it halfway down the middle, stop, and go right till you hit the wall with wire because we have to separate the winterbox (we built a part of the cage into a box with wood on all sides and floor) too. But we are worried that one of the rabbits could reach through the wire and scratch/bite the other rabbit so do you think wood would be better or would that not be an issue? We don't need to worry about mating through the wire because we are both getting bucks, but then Mr. Grumpy Neighbor spraying the other rabbit through the wire could also be an issue.
All thoughts, comments, and suggestions welcome. :pancake:

I put grille mesh over the cage wire on one side of it, then no worries over fighting through the wire. Some feed stores and most auto detailing or body shops have it. (it's meant to be the backing on fancy car and truck grilles.) The holes still allow for good ventilation but, are too small for any rabbit parts to go through. Makes a great kit guard too as it's pretty flexible so can go around corners.

Thanks BlueMoods! :) Because of the way we are separating them if we used wood there would be only one narrow place they could get good ventilation so we'll probably put something over the wire to make it smaller.
