Hubby has been reluctant to let me breed our rabbits again until we get into our own place (which won't be until fall sometime), mainly due to space issues. However, today he was talking about going ahead with breeding (one doe at a time) so that the does don't go too long without litters.
The caveat is that I have to have a market for the kits, because we have nowhere to keep them once they're not with mom anymore. I mentioned butchering any that we don't sell, but I've never done it before, and he refuses to do it himself. Besides, we have so little freezer space that we wouldn't be able to store very much.
We have Standard Rex (chocolate buck, white doe, and black doe), Californian, and Brazilian. I owe a couple of people some Brazilians, so that probably wouldn't be a problem, at least with the first litter.
Any ideas? How hard do you think it would be to find buyers for at least one litter for each doe (six does in all)?
