I know...it's shocking...I'm still uncertain on our next move for housing.

I've been researching housing quite a bit. I'm torn between hanging cages and stacked cages. I also want to use tractors when the weather permits.

So, here's what I'm thinking now. A tractor, constructed as lightly as possible, that can be placed on pasture during the warmer months. During the winter, I would set up a shelf system, that would stack these 3 high and 4 wide.

Each tractor, during the winter, would sit atop a large rubber bin (such as this http://www.tractorsupply.com/en/store/t ... --35-cu-ft) filled with shredded paper, peat and worms, that has the composted material harvested as necessary. This would require the dimensions of the tractor to be the same as the tub.

Is 3'x2' a large enough space for a doe and her litter?

I don't use stacked or hanging cages or tractors so I can't comment on any of that. What I could not resist saying was this: "HOLY CRAP! They want $17.99 for that black tub?". Check Home Depot in the cement mixing supplies area. They are wayyyyyy cheaper there.

LOL Yeah they're expensive. I have one that I got for $8. It was during a sale. Last time I went to look for one I thought, "Holy smack, price went up!"

Checked HD's website. They were $13 for plastic ones. I'll definitely shop around for a better price, just not sure on the size.

I don't know what size tractor you want to build but it needs to heavy enough it won't be blown away if you get high winds. I have seen chicken tractors made out of PVC pipe destroyed by a afternoon thunderstorm. It didn't even hurt the meat birds but if you have a wire floor I don't think the rabbits would fare as well.

The weight we're aiming for it between 40 ad 50 pounds, with the majority of the weight on the bottom.

Light enough that a single adult could move it alone if necessary, but heavy enough that you'd really want help.
