I have Californian and mutt rabbits for meat production. How often can I breed a buck? I mean how long will it take him to regenerate adequate sperm to service another female?

Thanks

I often breed a buck to two does on the same day with 2-3 covers for each doe with no problem. I have even used a buck on three does, limiting to two covers per doe.

How many does and bucks do you have?

Good deal, that is sooner than i would have guessed. Right now, 1 mature buck and 4 mature does. I have another younger buck that should be ready in a month or so and 3 more does that should be ready about the same time. I teach high school and our county fair is comic up next week, and I should be getting some more from kids that don't want them after the fair, what I dont want to keep and breed will grace my belly :)

When I had a buck escape in to the colony it took 5 does in 12 hrs before litter size dropped off and I'm not sure how much he caught the last one since she was a bit wiser and less receptive than the rest.

Rabbits produce viable sperm quite rapidly but personally I like to give them a couple of days just to be sure. In small rabbitrys' bucks seldom get overused.
