So I'm getting ready for my first "hot litter." I bred all through the cold months, and of course I provided plenty of straw for the nest boxes, but these will be my first warm months litters. All the does are outside. So should I just give them their nest box, and only let them fill it with fur, or possibly a small amount of straw to make a base for the kits?

They're only 11 days pregnant so I have a good amount of time to prepare. We have weeks were it gets in the high 90's so I plan on pulling the kits during the day if it is too hot, and returning them to their momma's when it's cooler in the day.

Afternoon!!!

I lined the box lightly with straw and gave the does options to layer in hay as they like, but most of the time the kits were piled on top of the straw. If you pull them into air conditioning be sure they have fur to get into to stay "the right temp".
