holland lops: depends on who breeds 'em as I've met nasties in my time,

BUT generally speaking my holland lop bucks are sweeties looking for their next head rub.

the does can be a bit as varied as can :)
1. peyton...son's rabbit...acts more like a buck than a doe. EXCELLENT mother. Great rabbit all round.
2. cloudtail...former pet bunny, submissive as all get out. Head rub? Nah. Body rub...oh please, please.
3. mousewhisker...(SOLD this doe, was a rescue). Very sweet unless bred. Will nip if you move to fast around her. Great mom. Fosters anything.
3. RosePetal (not one of my breeding, sold). Bossy as all get out. When proven (as I can sell proven rabbits easily, but unproven ones go for dogfood as I can't sell a sterile doe for nothing) turned out to be miss nasty I'll bite anything that moves. She went to a person who LIKES nasty rabbits.
4. DaisyHawk...busy busy busy little girl. INTO EVERYTHING. she consistently makes me laugh. I can't let her on the grass to play as she'll escape and is a pain to try to catch. (did I mention how busy she is?) She'd make an excellent agility rabbit as she's smart as a whip.
5. Carina...a solid quiet doe who does NOT like to be touched AT ALL. excellent mom. Easy to work with. BUT pets is a no go for her.
6. Shiloh (new to me doe)... quiet lass. Playing hard to get at this point.
7. Daisy (new to me doe).. SUPER Curious. Very interested in me. Will almost let me pet her but not quite yet.
8. Ella... GRR Growl Grr Growl (get the drift) she has NOT warmed up to me at all yet. She looks sweet and was really good with her previous owner but she won't even really look at me.
9. GoldenWhisper.... ... she wants head rubs. She's just a babe yet though... 3 months old. But she's always in my face. She'll be another Peyton type personality I'm sure.

So that's the gambit of MOST of my holland lops. there's a couple I missed I'm sure and I'm currently housing more buns than I want.

But hollands are generally nice buns....but there is a huge difference in how they present themselves. :)

I've always had real sweet Hollands, they're my favorite breed for a reason (Nastiest rabbit I've ever had? Was a frumpy little Mini rex doe, she was horrrrible with the thumping and the biting, got her from a farm that never really handled their rabbits,so that might have been the issue, but I doubt it after still having her do it for a year after getting her)

But anyway, I have a pair now(Of Hollands), the buck is a little flightly and doesn't like being touched all that much but he's not nasty about it, he'll just retreat to the far end of his cage or hide under the bed if he's out if he doesn't want to be bothered.

The doe is a lot sweeter, actually comes up to me and wants to be petted. Except with the cats, she doesn't like the cats and they can't even be on the floor if she's out or they'll end up with a bitten behind

Temperament can definitely be selected for.
My rabbits (all PB Hollands) are almost all friendly. The rabbits I have home-raised are the best! They come begging for pets, scratches, etc. One of my criteria for keeping any Holland, is temperament. I really like baby Hollands that come to me, even if they haven't been handled a lot at that point :) Which, if they are 3 weeks old, doesn't happen very often...cause WHO can resist a adorable baby Holland with lopped ears, round head and body that comes and says hi?

The ones I have brought in, are more flighty, don't really like people. But the buck is fine on a table, getting posed :)

We're new but have 3 young Hollands (about 14 weeks)-- 2 bucks and a doe.
The doe seeks petting and is always right there to greet.
The blue buck is a sex machine at the moment (spraying, marking, humping) and he is not super friendly.
Honestly he could move on but he is my daughter's.
The tort buck is sweet, shyly accepts attention.

I find all three curious but grounded-- if I let any of them out, they stick around and gently explore. Compared to my Flemish kits and my 14 week old Cali buck who rush headlong in every direction (but all are more outwardly affectionate than the Hollands).

So far the Jollands haven't really grown on me-- but they aren't mine so... LOL
