I am gonna hold off for a while to see if its hay or rabbits. :)

I am selling out my complete rabbitry.. rabbits/cages/supplies. I have suffered for a month with allergies.. and I am seriously thinking it is the rabbits, so they got to go.

I have:
4 Pedigreed tans ( bred them all this morning )
2 Netherland Dwarfs (female is due the 30th)
3 Lionheads (pedigreed, but not yet old enough to breed)
4 Adult Mini Rex's (NON pedigreed), 2 bucks/2 does. One doe has babies on her, but they are just about old enough to leave, and three are spoken for.. so she will come with 2 babies, and she is bred back.... the other doe has one baby (first time mom) and it is chocolate.
3 Adult Holland Lops (mom/dad and 4 babies, that are a week old) NON PEDIGREED and one 7 month old PEDIGREED buck
1 Jersey Wooly buck (PROVEN) NON PEDIDGREEd
1 F1 Lionhead baby ( that the Mini Rex is raising) NOT related to any of my others

I have 1- 12' 4 hole cage with drop down nest boxes, 2-6' 2 hole cages with drop down nestboxs; 1 12' 4 hole cage (without nestboxes); several smaller cages. NOTHING FANCY, but can be painted with non toxic paint to be made to look better.

$500 for everything. I am located in Northeast Arkansas... so you will need a way to pick them up.

Everything (rabbits) is on my website:

thank you.. I HATE to sell them... I love my bunnies.... but I am the only one that takes care of them....and I have never dealt with allergies before and they have me messed up right now...lol.

Ugh, I wish you were closer, or I could arrange transport, I'd love to get those LH does from you!

So sorry to hear this Willow. It sounds like you have a nice little herd going there.

Do you feed hay? It is possible that you are allergic to that, and not the rabbits.

Although I believe hay to be of crucial importance for good gut motility, zillions of rabbits are fed pellets only and do fine. You could also dry other (non-grass) weeds and greens for them, or perhaps try another type of hay.

I never even considered the hay.... yes They get hay daily... All I know is SOMETHING is driving me crazy...lol. I have never dealt with allergies in my life, now all of a sudden they are bothering me. It very well could be the hay. Thank you.

You're welcome. :)

I hope it is that and not the rabbits. :clover:

Straw is another option to feed- it doesn't provide much in the way of nutrients, but the fiber is still good for them.

Here's hoping it's the hay! :clover:

"Hay fever" is a real allergy... chances are, your rabbits can get by without it, and you could possibly provide extra fiber another way.

Maybe a good cleaning and far removal of the hay (and sufficient time for you to recover) would tell. :)

Ooohhh. One of my buyers was allergic to hay but not the bun. They used hay cubes instead of actual hay, and those didn't aggravate the allergies. Fingers crossed!

i know more than one rabbit person allergic to hay and one does hay cubes, the other just avoids it completely. Rabbits in both herds do just fine. :)

THANK YOU all!!! I will give that a try.... I dont want to sell out.. I love getting out and messing with them, and I think I have some nice buns to work with. I will give the hay cubes a try and see. I know I have got to do something. I SO appreciate all the advice :)

Let us know how it works out :). Otherwise, you can always mail the lionhead does to me ;)

:) Thank you... I will. I hope that's all it is... is the hay... and sure, I can mail those Lionheads right out to you. :) :) :). They are pretty things though, if I do say so myself. :)

>.> I actually started having allergies when I got my bunnies to. i was totally confused since I had a rabbit as a child and was fine. Took noticing one of my rabbits was allergic to hay o_O and then have someone point out the dog was allergic to the hay for me to realize it was the hay effecting me >.> I can be slow at times. I'm lucky though..its just a skin allergy so I just scrub my arms after I feed them all.
