I see a lot of people ask for opinions on rabbits, and more often than not it seems that the pictures posted here get the comment that the rabbit has a pinched hindquarter. I have seen it described as a good HQ looking like a "U" and a pinched HQ looking like a "V"...

I have a hard time judging by photos, I'm more of a hands on learner.

Can you all tell me what you think of this rabbit:

Also, can I see some examples of good vs poor hindquarters and the points one should look for, especially in a photo?

See the shadow near the midsection? See the toes sticking out on the one side? Its a bit hard to get camera angle straight over I know, but it looks like pinched/narrow hips there. Run your hand from shoulder down over the hips close to the body, does your hand catch/hinge on the top of the leg? Pinched/narrow hq. You can also see this by flipping the rabbit over and letting them tuck their feet (some times you have to tickle their belly to have them pull their feet up and then let them relax a bit to be in a natural stance). I don't have any pictures, maybe some one else will chime in....

Rebel rose, when they tuck their feet while upside down, would a V shaped feet position indicate pinched hind quarters? I'm happy someone is asking this question... I would love to learn more, too.

Pinched if just V'd but plenty of space between the bottom of the V. If no space or little then you have an issue with narrowness as well. Severity of each depends on how V shaped and how close together the legs actually are. Ideally you want as much width in between the legs as fits the body with the straight ( l l).

When you run your hand down over the hq, think of taking your pointer finger and thumb and making a pinching motion at the end of the rabbit. If you can do that quite easily, the worse the pinch. If you can't but have a smooth U shape made instead...good wide hq. Midsection/loin fullness ties in with a good HQ, or at least it seems like it to me. If you have a good rabbit with good midsection/loin they usually have good or near good hq.
