Putting them in the nest where they belong would probably be a good idea. >.>

Okay. Thanks Nyctra. I've counted 6 so far. Should I bring them inside the house with me tonight or let them stay in the cage with her? Sorry guys, this is my FIRST liter, and I am A BALL OF NERVES!!!!

Deep breaths, Zee! ;)

Did the doe build a nest with plenty of hay? Did she pull fur?

If so, they should be just fine in the nest. :) Some people bring the nests in and only take them out morning and evening for feedings, but I don't unless there are only a couple of kits that wont be able to keep each other warm enough.

:congratulations: on your very first popples! :bouncy:

MamaSheepdog, she started pulling hair today (Day 32). There was no fur in the box, so, I placed the 6 babies in the box and put what fur that I could recover from the poop tray on top of them and put some hay on top of that. I'm gonna go check in another 20 mins to see if she had anymore.

They will need more than just a little bit of fur to keep warm. You can add things like teased cotton balls, dryer lint, feathers, or even fur from other rabbits.

If the doe does not mind being handled, you can pull fur from her belly, rump, and sides. It should come out fairly easily, just pinch a bit between your thumb and forefinger. Pulling fur will also help her milk to come in and generally jump start her maternal instincts.

Congrats.
sound like you have your hands full. Take a deep breath, you will be fine. LOL

The hay I placed on top of them was gone when I checked just now! I placed a bunch of dryer lint on top of them. I hope she doesn't take it off of them tonight. Maybe I will bring them in for the night.

__________ Mon Apr 08, 2013 7:50 pm __________

Thanks CWD. LOL

I am keeping Marshmellows 7 babies inside (12 days old) just because there is a windstorm going on right now, and I don't want a branch to crush them (we live in a forest) and because I can hold them more often :)

oh and :congratulations:

Congrats! Hope the popples are doing well today.

Also, hope YOU are doing better today :)
