The first rabbits we got we were told were a Harlequin/Checkered Giant cross, but one looks I swear just like a Rhinelander, and the other looks super close to a Harlequin.

This is "B." The one that looks more Harlequin.

This is Oswin. I swear she's Rhinelander.

They look like harlequin/checkered giant crosses to me. :)

Those rabbits would not be a good choice for trying to breed purebreds in either breed.

The harlequin would probably have contributed all kinds of type faults to the checkered looking rabbit, and the checkered blood has wreaked the harlequin markings, making it look brindled.
That would be super hard to breed out.

Naw, I'm not wanting to breed them out, or anything. I just wasn't sure, because these guys were free to me. I took care of my neighbors horses for a week while he was gone, and he didn't want to pay me so I told him we'd me even if he got me 2 rabbits from the woman he used to get rabbits from. I had never seen the rabbits till we got them a month ago. I think they're super cute, and they are very sweet!

All our rabbits are meat rabbits.

I think they are super cute too! :)

I'm incredibly pleased with my harlequins. I like their "looks like a rabbit" body type.
Bright, perky, friendly and quite responsive.
I think they are more clever than other breeds I've had, but with an overall calm/submissive(but not fearful) tendency.

They seem less likely to cause trouble for people or other rabbits, and they took to forage like...fish to water. Like rabbits should take to fresh plants (but too often do not.)

My harlequins did not grow as well as most meat rabbits.
Maybe the large litters and forage based diet has been slowing them down? I have to see how these crosses I have do...

So far they are great. They're sweet when you catch them in the right mood. They're not fearful, but they do have that don't touch me attitude. Once you pick them up though they are okay with it. I have to hold 4 of my does together right now. (2 calis, and these 2.) While we're building the bigger hutch, and my Cals decided to kick some butt today, and sent these to 2 running to the attic area of the hutch, haha. So I just brought them in. It's funny all 4 of my Cals run when you try to pick them up, but once you do they love being held. My 2 crosses will let you pick them up, but fight like mad when you hold them.
