UGHHHGHHHHHHHHHHH!!!
I finally have something to be happy about with these stupid rabbits - Lily had her litter 2 weeks ago.
NOW I LOOKED IN THERE AND EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THOSE BABIES HAS GREEN GUNKY STUFF IN ITS NOSE!!!!!!!!!! Could this be pasteurella? It's a very dark greenish brown, looks very much like poop and its all dry and crusty. If it is pasteurella what do i do? Do i have to kill them? I can't imagine doing that. They're so cute, they all have names and developing personalities, and just the thought makes me start bawling. But I don't know if I could spare the money to take them to the vet. Is there any way this could just be, I don't know, harmless gunk or am I just kidding myself?
Thanks,
A Very Anxious Bunny Mom

the adults or the babies?

if it's babies might not be anything other than dry milk and nibbling and getting pellet dust on their noses. Give 'em a bit of time.

if it's the adults? are they feed divers?

Check their front legs for matting.

Is it just little bits around the nostrils? I think it's "normal" (I use quotes b/c I have seen it often enough in my litters, but not sure just how normal it actually is). I just assumed it was either from digging around in the feed, or from the nest box... maybe even dried icky milk? No idea. I had Pasteurella in a litter and it was huge amounts of white snot and lots of cute little sneezes  . That was a tough batch to have to deal with, they were already sure cute before it hit :( . I had a heads up though because they were born with weird milk like blisters that were really odd... someone on here mentioned possible Pasteurella so I had been keeping a close eye on them, JIC.

Yay! I don't think it's pasteurella! No sneezes, no white snot, no matted paws, healthy mama. I think we're all good then? What do I do if it comes back? Just keep cleaning it?

My kits always have some yucky gunk or crust on the edges of their noses, and they all seem to be healthy, I just figured it was even possibly some afterbirth stuck around there....goes away or gets licked off eventually.

Yup, just keep on cleaning. ;) I found that the hay you use can really play a role in the noses of the kits. I used grass hay when I first started and would have to clean the kits noses every day sometimes twice a day. When I switched to timothy hay that problem vanished. Some people use straw....I can't say anything about that though, cause I've never tried it, personally.
