I was checking on my otherwise healthy and adorable litter of baby bunnies today (10 days old in the nest box) and noticed a little less than half of them have poop stuck on their butts and tails/ hind feet! It is runny and orange! This is my first litter and I really don't wanna loose them :( I gave momma a dose of probiotics and rubbed the tiniest amount of the probiotic powder on the affected babies' lips, as well as changed out all the material in the nest box, and gave momma some cilantro. Momma has quality pellets and water at all times in addition to daily greens or carrot in small treats. What do I do?! Any advise is greatly appreciated <3 THANKS

DIARRHEA
Take immediate action at the first sign of diarrhea. This could be a life and death situation for any rabbit especially the very young. STOP ALL treats as they are the most likely cause of the problem. Feed plenty of long-fiber grass-hay and oats will work well. You may even want to stop the pelleted feed. when the stools return to normal slowly add the pelleted feed back to the diet while continuing to give grasshay on a regular basis. Two to three times a week if not more often.
What the kits are suffering from is most likely "Mucoid Enteropathy"
For treatment see "Rabbit Production" Pg 212-214 Mucoid Enteritis/Enteropathy.
Ottersatin. :eek:ldtimer:

At 10 days old they are still heavily nursing so changing the diet won't help much - either the does milk has an issue (which could be from bad feed or toxic plant so changing the diet could help) or they've picked up a nasty bug  either way there is not much you can do but heavily sterilize before the next litter.

Do they have hay in the box? At 10 days they will nibble on things around them. Hay will help the digestive tract unless the box is too soiled which can make the hay bad.

THANKS for your responses!!!! The kits are MUCH IMPROVED today <3 thank goodness, the probiotics must have helped them along with a complete change in the nest box material! We used hay from a bale we feed our horses but it has some weird weeds in it, my best guess to the cause of the problem is the babies nibbling on some bad plant, now there is pure timothy hay in there, won't make that mistake again! I repeated a dose of probiotics again today for the mother and a touch of it from my finger tip to each kit's mouth. Soooo relieved to see a bunch of clean bunny butts :)

So the kits are chive and healthy looking, but they still have funny poop that sticks to their butts, any advise to help them? should I give them daily pro bios? Or something new???? Thanks!
