I have not posted in a long time, but I come sometimes and read. All has been well in my little rabbit world. The 5 babies grew up and went into the new hutch beginning of last winter. It turned out there are 3 males and 2 females in Lulu's litter. They are all in their own cage in a hutch that looks like the first hutch. The wire is 0.5 x 0.5 hardware cloth. Soooooooo :? is it possible for a male to breed a female through that kind of wire? They are in the hutch male, female, female, male, male. The female I am wondering about had a hay mustache this morning. There is no gaps, opening, anyway possible they ever were in the same cage. I am thinking this is a false pregnancy. They are 7 months old now. Her name is Bella. I watch them from the house and she runs and plays and the male next to her runs and chases from the other side, but never have I seen her backed up to the wire or do anything like that and I am not sure a rabbit would :? but is it possible and tell me NOOOOOO! :x Picture of of the wire with them when they were 4 weeks old.

It may not be easy for them to breed through wire that small, but if you've got a doe with a hay mustache, it would be good to give her a nest box... just in case! :)

Deja vu. So, a male rabbit could .... Neighbors laugh and ask me, so how many rabbits do you have now and I say, same as before. They cannot get bred and we do not raise rabbits. They laugh and say, well you know rabbits. I really do not believe this could be possible, but I will fix a box. Thank you. You guys really helped me through a lot.

Probably wishful thinking on her part. I have a male and female separated by cage wire and when she first hit that age of puberty she build a nest and I thought the same thing but no babies. Then once my cat walked on top of their runs and the screen tops collapsed in (bad design) and one made a perfect ramp for the boy bunny to get over to the girl's run. I came home from work to find them together. oops! She had a litter but they were all born dead even though I moved her to a cage about a week before her due date and she had a proper nest box, etc. Didn't bother me too bad since I wasn't ready for babies. Anyway, on to another example with her. I moved them to a different setup recently and I'm guessing just because it's a new setup she decides to pull hair and build a nest again. It's been 4 weeks since she did that and no babies. I'm guessing she will be a good mommy when I finally let her have another liter. She certainly has been practicing.

Okay, I feel better. She carried the hay and then stopped after I checked her. I gave her more hay later and she didn't do anything with it. I will keep watching her. Your female does sound like she would be a great mother.

I have a similar design as you and over the past year I haven't had my doe get pregnant by the buck next to her but have had False pregnancy. Kind of comes out of no where and leaves you sitting there wondering.
