Hi,

My name is Lindsey and I come to you from Nebraska (Omaha). I have just recently gotten into meat rabbits. Before I had Mini Rex and Jersey Wooly buns that I showed heavily. At my most productive, I had a little over 200 rabbits. I sold out of those in 2005 when my dad died. I currently have 8 rabbits, 6 does and 2 bucks. The does are, Sierra, Cybil, Luna, Onyx, Houdini, and Tara. The bucks are Dayton and Prism. Sierra, Cybil, and Dayton are the only seniors at this point. All are mixed meat mutts I purchased from a breeder at the Iowa State Fair last month. She bred Sierra to her buck Ozzy on 8/16 and again on 8/17. Sierra is still pregnant which is foreign to me because I never had a doe go over. :/ I also bred Cybil to Dayton on 8/27. The very next day, Luna decided she wanted some action and escaped from her cage. She was found in Dayton's cage and has since been palpated positive. Anyway, I just wanted to introduce myself and the buns. I hope to learn lots of great things from all of you. Thanks so much for your time! :D

Lindsey

Hi Lindsey, Welcome to Rabbit Talk. Sounds like I could learn lots from you with all your experience in bunnies.

Look forward to chatting about rabbits. I have 6 myself. And have a Luna too. She's a Lion head that I hope is pregnant as well and am on Mommy Watch. Big day should be around Oct 3rd, if all went well.

Glad to have you with us, Lindsey! :welcome:

Some does can go as long as 36 days before delivering, so leave that nestbox in Sierra's cage. I don't know how many times I've heard the sad story "I thought she was not pregnant after all so I took out the box."

:welcomewagon: Hi Lindsey! Welcome to RT! :)

It sounds like you will have lots of experience to share with us. Congratulations on getting into meat rabbits! Do you still have all of your cages and equipment? I know I would be eager to fill up all of those empty cages.

Welcome Lindsey!

I have 4 does (Dough, Pat, Scents, & Marigold), 2 bucks (Ca$h & Peso), and 3 popples (born on the 16th).
Hope you enjoy our discussions!

Ok, I am extremely, super duper sorry about my taking forever to get back on here. My husband's very elderly grandmother fell in her driveway and hit her head so I've been trying to help her out. Also, I have been trying to contact mini rex breeders around here to get some purebreds for showing purposes into my herd. Sierra did end up having kits on day 42! She had 8, 3 white kits, 2 blacks, and an agouti. I'm hoping the whites end up pointed like her! I really do appreciate you guys' warm welcome! Thanks bunches!

I don't have any of my equipment anymore. When my dad died I sold off 30ish rabbits and their cages/feeders etc. The fall before my dad died I sold off over 2/3 of my herd in the hopes of introducing new lines. That was also when I started with the Jersey Wooleys. The founding Mini Rex buck I had was a stunningly gorgeous opal named Opie that had 15 legs under him. My biggest regret was not getting the contact information for the lady I sold my herd to. She bought all 30ish rabbits and equipment for $200 (including Opie).
