So I have a deep fryer and a few gallons of used grease and I was thinking, rather than throw it outside to freeze and the dog use as a chew toy, why not grease the trays, it should help the urine release and avoid build ups.

I like that idea! Seems like it would work, and if it didn't, you've lost absolutely nothing. Just gained experience!

Doesn't grease from food go rancid?? It would attract flies in the summer. And grease/food left on surfaces actually affects the surface its on and leaves marks, so might rot out the trays a bit faster if they were metal. Maybe that Pam spray stuff or some sort of Teflon treatment might be better?

er, it's been and stays FROZEN for a good 6mo
pam would have the same and really I'd pretty sure well used frier oil doesn't have much further to go.
