Hi! I am new to rabbittalk. We are getting some French angoras next weekend and I'm lookin into feed options. Ideally I would mix my own grains to feed. My main concern is making sure they get enough protein. I'm reading they need 18% crude protein for wool production. If I do 6 parts oats, 1 part wheat, 1 part barley, 1 part sorghum will that be enough for maximum wool production? I've read I can throw in 4 parts alfalfa and some beet pulp so I may do that too. I also plan to feed hay. Oh and of course they will always have access to a mineral block. Math is not a strong suit but from my calculations, it doesn't appear to be enough crude protein for angoras. Any grain feeding angora owners out there? Thanks!

ETA: I would also like to feed fresh greens(mostly weeds)

If you want to feed a pelletless diet, you will need a good legume hay (alfalfa or clover) to boost the protein to an acceptable level. Check out our Natural Feeding for Rabbits forum for more details.
