These are the two full size Rex I won in a raffle at the fall Maquoketa IA show. It was a fluke I never inteded to raise these breeds, but they are very pretty and sweet. Conformation wise I know nothing. So let me know are they even worth keeping for show? Or should I just give them away to pet homes?

The buck Blue River's Titan is a blue otter

The doe Broadfoot's K114 aka: Cherokee is a broken Red.

They are not the best pictures, but the best I could get. I am still learning a lot about this breed, but reading the standard and trying to apply it to a rabbit is hard without first seeing someone else go over the breed.
Personality wise I am sold on these guys. They are the best temperment wise! Almost as chill as my mini lops are about changes, holding, moving etc.

Congratulations! Can't help regarding "Show", but have to say love the Blue Otter.

Glad to hear about the personality being so mellow. Even if they weren't "show", if you have the room, I'd keep them around. Just for the good temperament alone.

Know you will get some good feedback from others who raise Rexes.

Both are lovely. Again congratulations on the Raffle Win!

That Blue Otter buck is amazing! Great type! He just needs a good brushing and possibly needs to molt but I would keep that one for sure. I cannot tell too much on Cherokee, who looks to be Broken Castor, not red, can you get a side pic like the blue otter? She looks good from the top. Is her tail crooked or is that just this pic?

Those are some nice rabbits, you did just fine off the raffle table :D
Nice wide butts and shoulders, I'd like those in my herd, except for that tail

that looks more like a castor than a red.

Looks like she's just leaning too, the way her side leg is in.

Nice shoulder and they both wide through the body.

Better than what I started with.

Thanks guys! I am glad to here that Titan is a keeper. I have heard other comments on the broken reds color. It says broken red on her pedigree. Her parents where red and broken red. but grand parents on moms side where opal and broken castor. Reds on dads side. Great grandparents there are castors on both sides. but if she is a castor she is a bad castor cause she hasn't got much shading though there is definitely a bit of smut there. Her tail isn't always like that and she was very much leaning to the side. Usually her tail is straight. Her butt like doesn't slope down at all though its straight down which I am thinking is frowned upon.

Thanks for all the comments!

Maybe then just a smutty red.

Not all castors have a black cast, but if she really was a castor she would have rings in the fur. I had a castor buck like that, a castor because the line does not carry non extension, but he sure did not look like one, no black tipping on his coat. I culled him before the coat really matured, but wish I had not.

Reds from castors close up in the ped are often smutty. Not a big problem.

Overall nice rabbits. The otter is a tad hollow over the hips, but absolutely worth keeping as a herd buck if you want to start in rex. He needs to molt. Great color, nice and masculine. I would keep him if he were mine.

The red, body type hard to tell, but looks acceptably wide balanced. The color is horrible but for a red the fur quality looks pretty good. You should never breed to the blue otter. Only keep this one if you want to do castors and use the red to contribute to a castor program, not to get more reds.

Both of these colors tend to have fur density issues, so watch for that. Even the best blue fur can't hold a candle to a top quality castor, white or black in the fur category.

The sloping butt vs straight down butt you speak of about the red depends entirely on where the spinal arch peaks and if the hips appear choppy at all.
