i have a champagne that will not breed no matter what i do.. I dont want to cull her as i just got her about 6 weeks ago from the states. so i have to get some litters out of her. Since i normally dont do this.. I had a hard time doing it. I did manage to get the buck do his job twice.. For the ones out there that does do this ... I Pm someone twice with no answer back on this subjuct so i posted it here to get some answers.

I have held does in position, by just stroking the head, to lifting the rear end, if they are reluctant but the vulva appears ready. My success rate is the same as no hands breeding. Sometimes after the first help, they seem to get it next time.

I agree with Susan, sometimes they just need a little help on what to do. If they run circles around the cage, I will stop them by putting my hand on their head. That usually gives the buck time to get situated. If they won't lift, I hold their scruff with one hand and put my other hand under the doe, palm facing up, and slide it down with my index and middle fingers forming a V on either side of the vent area and lift up. HOpe that helps!

thanks. I did do that twice and the buck didnt get it... What i had to do is kinda push her part outwards a little then he got.. You guys didnt have to do that... but it took forever. I thought maybe i wasnt doing something right.

Well, when I am lifting, it does sort of push the vent area out and up as well, since my fingers are on either side....
