My Senior Mini Rex doe just had her litter and only one was born alive. She had two rather large babies born dead after the first little live one. I could tell she was having trouble. I think this was her first litter and I am wondering if this is normal for a first litter also if not, should ever breed her again since she had so much trouble?

Thanks so much,
TariLynn

The second litter will be easier,
the first is always the hardest as
the Doe/dam has now gained experience.
I would breed her again once she is back
in condition.

Just stick with her. My grand champion white satin doe had that happen to her recently. The heat and humidity can affect rabbits in a variety of ways, so just give her a rest for a month or so, then re-breed her.

Right now is a good time to put her on a livestock & poultry vitamin-electrolyte mix in the water. It really helps during stress and recovery times, and is ideal for use in the summertime. Think of it as gatorade for rabbits. You can buy it for about $5/bag at just about any farm supply store, it only takes between one half to three-quarters of a teaspoon in a gallon of water, and that bag goes a long way. I give it to my rabbits daily, and have experienced very minimal losses since putting my herd on it. I keep 4 gallons of it in the refrigerator, mixed up and ready to use.
