Bought an Easter bunnie for the grandkids last year and said it would stay at grandpas. Really think it was just a gateway rabbit for grandpa to get back to raising some meat rabbits.

So this spring I bought a Cali doe and buck. Bred the lop and got my first litter in over 30 years started. Lost 1 the first day but the other 6 seem to be doing good so far. I got 5 black and 1 gray out of the combination.

Had heard here pictures are ok...LOL

LOL! No, pictures here are REQUIRED, especially after new litters arrive!

Nice-looking buns, by the way!

Oh dear... yes, the disease process has begun. It is often characterized by seemingly logical reasoning. "It will be enjoyable for the grandchildren, and teach them a respect for animals." "Dear, I am going to get meat rabbits to show the youngsters that rabbits can be both pets and meat. It will be good for them to know where their food comes from, and that the food on their plates does not come without sacrifice."

You may also find yourself eying your food stores to broaden your rabbit's diets, and looking upon nuisance weeds as treasured aspects of your landscaping. Trolling CraigsList for used cages and good rabbits may become an obsessive behavior pattern. You will likely also find that posting on RabbitTalk while enjoying your morning coffee becomes routine.

It is a pity that your first litter is such an adorable group of bunnies... if they were ugly you might still have a chance. Sad...

Isn't it, though! Sounds as though the OP is a hopeless case. . . ;)
