I've only been trying for a few years. 4 generations later, an Amber has appeared in the litter.

:D :D :D

You don't want to know what I had to do to get it. The great grand dam had an Amber out of the same litter as the sire, in theory, this should have pooped up two gens ago, but the genes just never lined up that way. This is quite significant, as the herd genetics narrows, there is not a single unrelated Rex in the colored herd (not counting chins or seal, though the chins may still have a common ancestor to the rest). If it's a buck, it could completely change the colors I get, as Amber can only give the bb choco gene, and everyone carries it, I could have an all chocolate based herd in a few generations.

I am thrilled.

:gnight:

YIPPEE! the brown based are my special favorites :)
I am FINALLY getting quite a few. Most excited that
I have now had both chocolate otter and lilac otter.
I am taking 3 ambers, 2 chocolates and a lilac
to the show in Turlock this weekend. [also some
broken, otter, castor, chin, red & white]

The Rex nationals are in WY in April,
a 13 hour drive from where I live.
I have made hotel reservations.

I may even make it this time.
I have an older 4Her who has got a number
of Rex from me and who wants to go with me.

Congrats!

My herd buck is a chocolate .... horrible picture.

Ambers and Opals are the reason I wanted Rex, two colors that have eluded me all this time. It has been very frustrating to know you have a certain gene in the line, and can't force it out. I bought two Ambers and a chocolate two years ago, and none of them made senior weight.

Then Frosted Rabbit had a litter of lynx, chocolates and lilacs with the REW doe she got from me, on the first try. I really did try to steal her whole liter, lol.

I have 8 mini rex does and 1 buck. Can you id colors for me ?
I don't know the name of these 2 colors.

The pictures are took inside the building. My camera takes
better pictures outside in the natural light.
The reddish doe is very vibrant in color. She looks dull in the pic.

My male is black and white.
My other does are black or black/white broken.

What colors are the parents?

A bit hard on my screen, the the first one almost looks like either a very dark black tort, or a steel Castor.

The second looks like a Red.

These are adult does, I bought last fall. When I bought them, the gal
only had the Cali parents on site. Plan was to purchase babies from her
current litter of calis. I bought 2 girls and 1 boy.

The rex were also for sale, I found out. I bought the 2 in the pics ,
and 1 very small black one. All female adults. I asked where she bought them,
and she said locally. She had no more information. Teenage girl owner.
The 2 in the pic are both bred. I will try to get a better pic outside in the
next day or so. It either has been very cold, windy, rain or snow here lately.
Just a rough winter and no end in sight yet. Sigh.
I think the one is a red and the other is a tort. She is brown with black markings.

ramjet.. That choc looks different on my computer.. it looks like a tri is hiding in the fur.

congrats Ski.. here is to more choc in the future..

That's just a horrible picture with uneven lighting with the flash on , my 9 year old daughter took the pic. He was also molting a bit. He's pedigreed from a couple well respected rabbitry's (OneAcreFarm & Dolly Rock Farm) with only black , chocolate and blue on his tree as far back as I know.

I've actually bred him to a tri doe .... and get mostly otter types in castor & opal along with broken opal's and had been wondering if that pairing would produce tri's , none yet thru two litters.

Bred to a lilac doe there have been no surprises with nothing but chocolate & lilac kits.
