Sometimes rabbits really make me want to :wall: Went out to feed the little buggers this morning and found fur everywhere and 1 of the does is missing a tail! I have 3 does and 1 buck that are 11 weeks old in the pen which is a 48"x30" dog kennel. I have no extra pens right now since I moved half of Blizzards kits to a pen as they were getting a little thin with all 8 togather. I am thinking somebunny needs to go to camp early, I was planning on next monday for camp day but now...

WOW ! Only 11 weeks and already fighting. I usually dont have a problem unless they are 16 weeks, but I remedy that by sending them to camp at 12 weeks at the latest.

I also have an pet doe who lives permenantly in the grow out colony, perhaps she keeps the youngesters in line.

I was just as suprized I have kept siblings togather for much longer than this with no problems. I dont know if its the buck trying to get a little too frisky with the girls and they are getting upset or if the 3 girls are fighting with each other. The girls do seem to be the ones with fur missing. Either way I had planned on culling them next Monday because they will be 12 weeks old then. But I guess a couple of days early wont make to big of a difference, I am just not prepared right now, these will be the first rabbits I have killed, other than the doe that had pasturella last summer, so I am still psycing myself up although after the one gave me a pretty good slice on the wrist it might not be as hard

I'm almost willing to bet you have a very aggressive doe, I had one like that last litter who acually attacked her mother at 12 weeks. Women, you can't live with them and you can't live without them.

I put my bucks in seperate pens somewhere between 10 and 12 weeks...if they haven't gone to freezer camp by then. They're usually always fighting by 12 weeks. The does usually stay together okay for another two or three months unless there's a bully or I sexed somebody wrong.

I'm always amazed at how much damage and how quickly rabbits can inflict that damage!

Sorry to hear you're having troubles. Real estate is always a problem, isn't it? How is it that all the empty pens / space always seems to fill up with rabbits?!?

Whoa!!!

I've had litters together much longer than that, mixed genders mixes litters.

The last time I had that problem was the first pure Rex litter I had, the males were humping and pounding each other at 8 weeks.

I have been really lucky. I can not remember ever having any of my rabbits fight.
I hope I did not just jinks myself.

I have never had kits fight before this either. They seem to be more relaxed today, no huddling in the corner or thumping. Hopefully they have worked it all out.

I would suggest that you move the buck in with the younger litter ... his presence is probably stirring the does up :p
