i had the thought randomly pop into my head that perhaps a small q-tip dipped in milk/formula and held to the baby's mouth might be much less chance of asperating or drowning in the milk as you try to save it.

yes, no, maybe? thoughts?
thanks

Could work, I'd be wondering if you could get the milk to them fast enough that way. I have no idea though I haven't tried to hand raise kits in years

Ehh, best to have does due to deliver within a few days of each other. Qtip may work, just don't soak them too much and don't force it that hard. Tiny amounts several times and hour until they get it. Then certain syringes [[without the needle]] tend to move more smoothly. Some get stuck and then squirt out a ton, so it's a trial and error thing to find the right ones that are safe for feeding babies.

I'd think it would be worth it to give it a try... just keep an eyedropper handy, just in case the baby can't take it in that way. :)

I have NOT had success doing it that way. The cotton gets all tangled up in their teeth (even newborn kits) and they never get any milk. I would go with either an eyedropper or, if you can find it, a kitten bottle with the smallest nipple you can get (I found a set of REALLY small nipples at Tractor Supply).
