Sure, why not. An occasional ice cream cone is nice, but they really enjoy fiddle faddle or cracker jacks.

Mine get (very rarely) Lucky Charms, including the marshmallows. And I'm talking like 3-4 pieces at a time.

DBA, my German Shepard would kill anyone for Fiddle Faddle.

Yes?, then what would he do for a klondike bar?

"they also LOVE eating candy like Hershey's Lillie pops and son on. Feed them CANDY."

Lillie pops? Those are rather uncommon, and hard to find, unlike their brethren the "Lollie pops". Rabbits can be so-o-o picky.

Aside from the usual warning about not overdoing it on the sugar, a lot of rabbits really do like sweet things.

A few licks here and there are not likely to harm one, but I don't think I'd give a rabbit a whole piece of candy.

I thought lillies were poisonous??

Candy is not good for people. I know we all love some kind of it, but if we're honest with ourselves we know it's bad for our health. With that said, I would say it depends on the rabbit. My sheltie loved chocolate, and had no ill effect from it. :p My boxer pup only had a couple chip pieces and had an upset belly for 3 days. :x I know I will not be giving my buns candy. Best not to start the habit in the first place.

Yeah, I can't imagine a few licks would hurt a rabbit and I'm SURE they would like it... but the way that person was just like "FEED YOUR RABBIT CANDY!!" I was

"Ruby", one of my brood does, dearly LOVES a peanut butter and jelly sammich. :p :p

My youngest now feels free to leave his crusts because the buns love pb & j bits. Not as hot on leftover toast with jelly. And it's my good homemade stuff, too.

Maybe my good homemade stuff isn't as good as I think it is...

-- Mon Apr 13, 2015 8:20 pm --

Maybe they're trying to make a chocolate bunny the hard way?

Last Saturday was the first time I've ""ever"" given a rabbit what I would call
"a treat". I had my son bring me down a PBJ to the barn because I didn't
want to go to the house to eat. It seems I NEVER get out there for at least
2-3 hours.

Eat lunch in my recliner--w/my warmy-comfy-blanky..LOL. watch TV and
my eyeballs begin checking my eyelids for HOLES... :x An hour or so later
they're sure my eyelids aren't perforated.

Anyhoo.... I had a small portion leftover and Ruby was sniffing so loud,
I thought she might have a cold. Nope!! She wanted a taste of PBJ. One
time........and now she's hooked. A supreme panhandler.

I'm her new "best-friend"...

Grumpy.

And I'm sure your homemade stuff is awesome. Yummy!

Our rabbits get the occasional bread crumb or dropped cheerio. We don't feed them candy though. Not even 'lillypops' ;)

-- Mon Apr 13, 2015 8:40 pm --

It's cute, but Mucky's not the foot stomping type. She just stands up and peers at me expectantly, and if I pass her by she stares with those huge doe eyes and droopy ears....and starts slowly lowering herself in disappointment.

I've actually never been able to resist for more than a few seconds,
so, I can't say I know for sure what she'd do if I continued withholding the desired popsicle. :?

Mucky just never seems to get sassy like the other rabbits do.

If it matters, we (Mucky and I) prefer the Scribblers brand ones.

Ours get Cheerios and Honey Nut Cheerios (various brands), Cracklin' Oat Bran, bits of various other cereals, uncooked or cooked and dried spaghetti, bits of bread, bits of oatmeal cookie, popcorn, etc. Not all the time! Just a little here, a little there.

More often for the house bunnies. Pinto, for instance, loves popcorn. Aslan will happily bound into his bin to be caged up for the night -- as long as you invite him with Cheerios. He used to come for whole oats, but now he will settle for nothing less than Cheerios. :?

-- Mon Apr 13, 2015 9:02 pm --

But yeah, "Feed him CANDY..." Uh... no. Not like she's talking about.

Grumpy, that's hilarious about the PB&J with Ruby!

And Zass, with Mucky and the popsicles!

Oh my gosh... that sounds utterly adorable. You should provide video evidence though. You know, for the 'doubting Thomas's'. :D

-- Mon Apr 13, 2015 10:11 pm --

I believe a few of us are admitting to have some secretly spoiled bunnies. Who would have suspected Grumpy, of all people?

I know! :p He's seriously in danger of losing his grumpy reputation!

I'll PM Maggie and let her know we need to change his username to "softie".

Cereal, popsicles, PB&J... LOL... some animals will do just about anything for a treat. My boxer became obsessed with pizza crust. We had to call the pizza place, and not say "pizza"... then over a 2 year period, we also had to start to avoid saying "large" or "pepperoni" or "delivery" or anything about "placing an order".

"Mystic Pizza..."
"Hi, this is Ms X on First. What's your special I saw an ad for?"
"The large with one topping, and the pepperoni and sausage, ma'am"
"Oh, right. I'd like the second one. How soon could you bring that?"
"For delivery?"
"Yes, that would be great!"
"That'll be about 40 minutes, Ma'am. Your total will be $16."
"Ok, thank you."

Yep, ordering in code unless we wanted the dog going berzerk for 20 minutes and trying to charge the door when it showed up. We started sending someone out the side door and have them walk around to the street and meet the pizza guy. I don't think Cesar Milan himself could have stopped his little episodes. It is pretty hysterical to see an excited boxer butt though.... they wag their entire rear end to make up for the nubby tail. lol

Feed your Rabbits candy! REALLY?
I can agree with that, Everything in moderation.
I give my Rabbits Pizza Crusts, they go absolutely
nuts when I do. I too give cereals on occasion,
but like I said: Everything in moderation, Moderation is the key.
Ottersatin. :eek:ldtimer:
