So, I was planning on breeding my doe today. Yesterday, I noticed she was building a nest. I thought it must be a false pregnancy, since both bucks are safely in their hutches. No bucks have ever been in her run. However, she's still building a nest today. Usually (at least, in the 2 previous false pregnancies I've had with this doe) her hormones return to normal after a day, and she ends up with a half-complete nest. So, I'm trying to decide whether is a false or real pregnancy- or, more importantly, whether I should breed her today or not.
First of all, is it possible for a doe to get pregnant through a wire wall? The doe run and the buck run share a wall that has chicken wire reenforced with 2"x1" wire.
Second, is it OK to breed her if she is having a false pregnancy? Will she be receptive, or will she refuse because she thinks she's pregnant? If it just depends on the doe and how severe her false pregnancy is, then should I attempt to breed her?
Just as a side note, if she refuses to breed, I think the chance of her turning savage on the buck is slim. There was a time when she was pregnant and I attempted to breed her (it was day 30 and she hadn't built a nest at all), and she just refused to lift and just cuddled. She never turned aggressive or irritable.
