What is a fair price for Jersey Woolies? I began peeking around for local breeders...there's a breeder in Michigan who is willing to give me a doe in exchange for transporting a few other Woolies to another buyer. Problem is, it's a HECK of a long drive...like, a ten-hour round trip. Now...I've driven on longer trips (the longest without making use of a motel was a 23 hour drive in a freaking blizzard) and frankly it isn't like I have anything BETTER to do (the one and ONLY perk of being unemployed) but I'm wondering about whether or not the price of gas for that trip will be more than if I just bought one of her does outright.

I am presently waiting to hear back on whether or not they are juniors or seniors, and if they are seniors have they been bred before. If she has a senior that I like, can it be bred before pickup. And are they show quality or just brood quality.

I'm considering for the length of the trip and time it'll take plus my gas expenses, asking maybe for a pair of juniors. Or a bred senior and a junior. But I'm unsure what they are "worth." If you know what I mean. :p

This is much, MUCH more sudden than I'd expected, btw...didn't expect to have someone immediately offering me a rabbit in trade for being a bunny-transporter! ;)

Sometimes a road trip is just fun :p You can't measure joy and life experience in mere dollars now can you?

I've seen proven show quality animals anywhere up to $100. I got my buck for $45 with a half pedigree (grandparents on fathers side and beyond missing but full info on parents and through mothers side) and my doe for 50 with a full pedigree. My best doe was free on craigslist lol. If they have what your looking for i would drive that far. Otherwise i would keep looking. Have you joined the jersey wooly group on Facebook? If you posted on there i am sure someone would have what you are looking for or know someone who does. It took me a long time to find mine. They are somewhat rare in the south. Tons of breeders up north though.

I got most of my Woolys at the same time from a breeder who was getting out of the breed, so I got a good deal.
I had been shopping around & came across her site, noticed three on her for sale page I wanted.
When I contacted her she told me she was getting out of them & I jumped on it.
I had to drive about two hours each way but it was worth it for 18 Woolys all with full pedigrees :)

..................yeah the cost in gas is gonna be like AT LEAST $60 due to a lot of stop-go as well as highway driving (I get SO much better mileage on straightup highway trips), and to be honest for taking up an entire day of my time? I'm gonna be asking for a pair of does. :p She's selling out of the breed, and frankly she'd be paying a craptonne more if she had to hire someone for the same trip. If a pair is too much, well...not worth it. :p
