I have a little netherland probably about 2 weeks old judging by it's siblings. It's a bit behind them. I think because of it's eye. I was checking the litter and this one had a completely crusted over eye. I washed it up to find bunny poop in the mess. However the eye is not normal. It's a little circle with puss behind it and the lids stick out some. I'm not sure if I can get terramycin ointment but I do have tmp smz antibiotics from the hedgehogs. I think the infection has spread anyway. It's sitting in a towel in a box making little wheezing squeaks of discomfort. Any idea the smz dose for a rabbit?

__________ Fri May 31, 2013 5:07 pm __________

I realized I don't know the concentration of my smz bottles so I'm using the hedgehog dose. It's not looking good though. It was laying on it's side when I uncovered it.

Have no advice but wanted to wish you well in treating the infection.

if the bun is in that much discomfort it might be better to simply cull it. Bunnies in a lot of discomfort tend not to recover well.

Well it's standing and I've given it a full belly twice. It's still wobbly and squeaks a lot.

that's a young bun who isn't very happy. Content or getting well bunnies tend to be quiet

Bunnies making sounds of discomfort and squeaking tend to be very unhappy buns.

When I went to the CA Convention, a judge spoke about disease and treatments in the rabbitry. She recommended a drop of injectable Pen G be applied to the eye to clear infection.

We cleaned the eyes out with contact solution and q tips. Now it's only squeaking when hungry or it runs in to something. It's feet are deformed which if I noticed at the time I would have just put it down. Now though it's eating well, recovering, learning to walk. It won't be able to go in a wire cage though.
