Ok, I'm sure I already know the answer to this, but.....

Do you use expired medications on your rabbits? I got 2 rabbits from a lady yesterday and she gave me the rest of her ivermectin since she won't need it anymore. It expired in 2004. I appreciate the gesture, don't plan to use it. I'm just curious if this is a random thing, or if people really use expired meds.

A lot depends on HOW the container was kept-- Ivermectin is pretty stable as far as temps go, but can be negatively affected by light-- rendering it useless. Some antibiotics can live forever if kept 'cool, dark, dry' while others have such a short shelf life that I wonder how they ever made the market.
6 years past the expiration date, though, Not a chance-- get a new bottle if you want to use Ivermectin, and keep it cool and dark(do not need to refrigerate it)
