I was separating the meat rabbits into boy/girl pens today, now that the 2nd pen is fixed up. But I'm kinda worried now. I don't imagine it would be too pleasant to be butchering and find little babies inside...
In Mag's last litter, the bucks got their balls by 11 weeks - that's the earliest I noticed them at least.
But now they're getting them at just 9 weeks! Some of her doe babies are showing purple coloring. I noticed they actually lift like the big girls, too...Is this an uh-oh? From my understanding, this isn't at all normal. :x Perhaps I'm just worried over nothing. I'm still pretty new to this rabbit breeding stuff...

They are a New Zealand x Californian mix. I've heard they can get like this early, but THIS early? X_x

I have no idea on age but I do know from recent experience that accidentally butchering a bred doe is no fun at all.

And now the girls are fighting. Aren't they supposed to be buddies with each other for a while longer? :x One rabbit seemed to be chasing the whole group, and managed to pin one and bite her ear. Poor thing just screamed and screamed.
Last litter I had a young trouble maker, and the problems stopped once I removed her. Wonder if I'll have to do that again. :?

Last time the rotten one slashed open the throat of her sister. Hope I can catch it this time! >__<

My Rex usually start fighting about that time, they start humping each other for real at 6-8 weeks, though none have ever had their parts before they were 5 mos old, and only one at 5 mos old.

A couple days ago I saw a little fuzzball mounting a sibling. At about a month old, it was just so adorable.
