Today I have a less eventful day so I'm baking pies and doing some blogging about my new rabbits. :p

I wanted to inquire here about double checking these 3 does pedigrees. I paid alot of money for them and just want to double check these are the rabbits as presented on the pedigrees.

I read alot about faking pedigrees and such - just want to know I have what the pedigrees are saying I have - not that they are not indeed the rabbits - but I will feel better knowing as I continue on with them.

I know for my racehorses I can go to the Jockey Club or Equifax website type in the name and get the whole history of races, owners and breeder. Is there such a thing with show rabbits ? Just wondering.

Anyhows, the black doe is from all black rabbits except one GG Sire was a broken opal, one G dam was a black otter, the Dam was a blue and the Sire was broken black. Everything else is black. Everyone has legs - some of them have 3 and 5 even. 2 GC. 1 name has GC listed as pending.

The castor doe has alot of brokens: tri-color, opal, black and one GG Sire was a BEW. Her mom and dad were castor x black otter. 4 have 2 legs.

This is what got me ask this question. The broken doe has ALL black or broken black all they way back to all the GG's even - everything is black and broken black - but she is broken tortoise. (I dunno much yet, so to me seeing a broken tort on a pedigree with all black and broken black I'm just wondering if it's all good) All but 2 on this pedigree have legs - alot of 2 and 3's. 2 GC and 2 names have GC listed as pending.

What do you make of all this and why do some have GC as "pending" ? Thanks in advance.

I can not answer some of your other questions, but how old are the rabbits? If they earned their legs, before being a certain age/weight, or they may not be registered yet. Something like that. Someone else should chime in soon. From what I have read, I suspect everything is legit, I just do not know how to phrase it, where you would be able to check it out, yourself.

and what breeds, too -for colors. Excuse me, I have had lower back pain, the last couple of days, and have been drinking a lot of water, just in case. Going to get, my first cup of coffee, now! :coffee:

A tort from a long line of blacks is odd but not impossible at all. Tort is black with nonextension which can hide out. There could be some reds just off the pedigree giving the nonextension. You never know. There is no higher authority except for grand champions. Otherwise no one has a copy of the pedigree except the breeder and it's the breeder's word as to what goes on it.

I got torts and there are none on the pedigree ,they can hide as previously stated.mine are out of a black.

Most torts that I know of around here are actually out of a long line of blacks. I personally don't keep torts so I do not know from personal expirience but the people I do know that have them raise mainly blacks and they just pop up ocassionaly. As for the pending GC it's most likely due to the rabbit being registered, but the ARBA not having officially gotten all the paperwork and such done.
