*Weep* Got halfway through a long, detailed post and then somehow lost it. Excuse any missing info or messiness in the re-type :|

So! Kits are now 10 weeks old and I thought I had everything nicely worked out.

Dam (orange): Aa - B - C c(chl)- D - ee - en
Sire (siamese sable?): aa - B - c(chl) c - D - E - en
Siamese sable kits: aa - B - c(chl) c - D - E - en
Seal kits: aa - B - c(chl)c(chl) - D - E - en

But then, the bald kit finally regrew his coat and he looks like an odd chinchilla  From my limited understanding of genetics, I have to assume I've made a mistake somewhere because c(chd) isn't there to inherit and adding it in messes everything else up. The kit in question has definite shading on his points, a greyish-cream chest but very clear dark chinchilla on his back. Compared to the other two kits- bigger buck is a beautiful example of siamese sable: very rich, dark points on a full sepia body. Doe is.. well, she has slightly darker points but appears as just a messy grey blob of fur. So, would I be right in assuming the "chinchilla" kit is actually just a variation of some very messy siamese sable? Or have I made some other mistake in the colours?

Sable chin - A_ B_ cchl_ D_ E_

__________ Sun Dec 29, 2013 2:11 am __________

you could also get sable point from the breeding - aa B_ cchl_ D_ e_ if the Sire carries non extension

So presumably, the only other thing he could be on C locus to make up the pair is "c", right?
Aa - B - c(chl) c - D - E ?
Didn't even think about the agouti

I don't know what A_B_cchlcchlD_E_ would look like, so I'm not going to positively rule that out.

I agree with Bad Habit, sounds like a shaded agouti AKA Shagouti = A_ B_ cchl_ D_ E_

No, he could carry himilayan (ch) or REW (c) since both are recessive to shaded

a really dark shaded chin since shaded (cchl) is co-dominant and two of them turn siamese sables into seals.

lol not that i know of, it just seems like it'd be an insult to me... not a word that sounds very nice when saying it.

Hello,
Would someone mind taking the time to explain what the alphabet soup above means or where I can find a good explanation? I've been seeing it in your posts and am so new to rabbits, I have no clue, but would love to learn more! :x

Sure.

Is it slang for some something?

I don't get out much and came from a small town so I'm not very fluent in 'modern' English

Umm...yes..."s h a g" is slang for...ah...intercourse. That's probably the closest description I can give on a G-rated forum.
