I have Sun Conures, Parakeets, Cockatiels, and one mouthy African Grey.

The African Grey is my personal pet everything else I breed. I keep everything outside. I have an small avairy with 3 pairs of cockatiels. A 7ft long cage for my one pair of Conures. Then all my parakeets are in individual cages.

So I have been doing this for a really long time this is however the first time that I have had sun conures they are gorgeous I love them so much. How long will it take them to get settled in before they start nesting again. They are a proven pair. Also will the cockatiels breed in an avairy together like that. I do have a bunch of branches in there for them and there is 4 boxes so there is an extra box. The picture is of the cage before I added the boxes.

I've only bred budgies but it was lots of fun. Budgies just aren't easy enough to tame. We had a linnie and were going to get him a mate but he just fell over dead one day. I think linnies are a bit too shy. I want sun conures but with our poor bird handling knowledge we might start with parrotlets. I don't know anyone who's had birds so I've never seen how to handle them.

I bred Zebra Finches for a while. they were a fun bird! I would like to get a song bird for the hose again but our cats would have a feast!

do chickens count? I've had incubated eggs before and was successful at it...

Sun's are reasonably easy to breed in captivity.
Cockatiel's are super easy.
Afr. Greys, once a breeding pair is established are very prolific. Just watch
the "SCAMS" when buying a "mated-pair". It's not the same as breeders.

My specialty was Gould's, and Scarlet Chested parakeets. At one time, I had
20 pairs of working Gould's and about 5 pair of producing Scarlet's. I made
a pretty good chunk of change selling the youngsters every year.

I'd had a rough week-end and was showing two ladies the birds a few days
later and mouthed-off. "I'd sell the whole she-bang for two grand..." :x

Five minutes later, I had a check in hand. They told me they'd be back
when it cleared. I was out of birds because of my big-mouth. :(

Have a green cheek conure and a lovebird. I'd like to breed lovebirds but I'm afraid my girl would never accept a mate

We may breed green cheeks, but ours is currently young and it'd be years before we ever got into it. These guys are pets so if we did they'd be inside and spoiled lol. Not that i think parrots could live outside in AK anyways..

Cockatiels are so cute as babies! So fluffy!. Nice setup. It just looks a little bland? no toys?
I know birds in aviaries with other birds don't need as many toys but.. they're still such a smart species, seems like they'd need some sort of entertainment /:?

Since the pick I have added a ton more of branches and been working on which toys I want to add. I like to make my own. Right now I am in debate whether I want to take all the plastic off and wrap with something else. Someone told me that when wrapping with plastic and tarps it tends to hold moisture. What else could be used. I mean wrapping it in metal wouldnt that hold in the cold?

__________ Wed Nov 19, 2014 3:42 pm __________

Featherhoof where at in florida are you?
