What are the chances of a doe kindling a week early and having viable kits? A friend of mine swears her doe was due Oct 3rd, and she told me on Sept 2nd that she bred her doe so I would be able to breed one of mine as backup. She says the kits seem fine and healthy, they're definitely alive at this point... Are they really a week early, or did her doe perhaps get caught through the wire?

All my does kindle after 31 days so I've no experience with early litters but at 7 days early they are a little more than 3/4 "cooked" and I find it hard to believe their lungs would be ready for air

My last Mini Lop litter, I bred my doe and buck, and I wrote on my calendar that I bred them the DAY I did. I bred them on February 28, and she kindled 7 on March 23. They all looked fine, but only one survived. She kept him alive and he was a spoiled lil thing. I almost cried when I sold him. He is about 6 months old now.

I know with my Cals or NZW, a kit born day 28 *might* survive but not one born any earlier....maybe it's different with dwarf breeds?
