Been meaning to post these for a while now. Hubby has been working on learning how to easily debone a rabbit, and has been practicing after watching this video. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J6ud68Qmdyc It's a bit time consuming yet, but he's getting better with time as he gets more comfortable. He said the biggest issue is he doesn't have a sharp enough knife. We don't waste any where near as much doing it this way though!!

We use alot of ground rabbit, and it's so nice to have in the freezer!! I usually mix it 50/50 with venison, and the flavor is amazing!!

Working on the spine.

Wow- how many rabbits did it take to make that? Are they 1 lb packs? Do you freeze the venison sausage separately and mix when thawed?

I can't remember how many it was all together. I do know a couple were just over 6 lbs, and some were only 4.....maybe smaller. We processed some of them early that time.

Yup, 1 lb packs, and no, the venison is in separate tubes. The flavors really blend well together, and hubby trimmed the venison very lean when he processed it, so it's wonderful meat. The 50/50 mix makes great bbq meatballs!! I microwave them, and since it's so lean, they sit in very little grease when cooking.

We grind a fair amount of venison also.....do you use the mix of rabbit and venison as hamburgers, or in chili...or???

I use it in just about anything, and I like to make meatballs with it. I haven't yet used it to make burgers though. I would imagine it would be great! I'm gonna make some meatloaf with it this week.

Ours grinds bones easily, nothing large though, and the adult heads can be tough on it. If we do chicken, we cut out the breast bone. If we do thighs, we remove the knuckles as they tend not to make it past the knife or plate.

Weston is one of the only brands that will not void the warranty if you grind bones, others usually do. If you read this website page, they talk about a Tasin TS 108. http://www.catinfo.org/?link=makingcatfood#The_Recipe These two are some of the better grinders. My step-dad was looking for a grinder around X-mas, and ended up buying the Tasin TS 108. He was comparing others, and said the Tasin had the better horse power. It is loud though he said, but works good. He said he wears ear plugs when he uses it. The Weston is not that loud.

Thanks ladysown! :)

Do try it Truckinguy! I think you will find you go pretty slow at first, but after a while you will get the hang of it too.
