One of my news does was playing dead in her cage. She wasn't dead, but she was really still/eerily-calm even after I picked her up.

We hosed her down. It took a few seconds for her to realize what was happening, and then she began bucking and yanking to get away. Poor girl is thoroughly drenched now. But she's up and alert.

I don't think she was sleeping, unless she's a REALLY heavy sleeper. :?

None of the other rabbits are in heat distress. It's only 73, low humidity, nice easterly wind to keep the shed cool on the inside.

Any ideas? I'm worried about her now. :(

I've had that. They are usually just fine. Just sleeping REALLY heavily.
Oooo. Poor thing. I just woke her from a nap and gave her a bath for no good reason!

i have had a rabbit scare me...it was asleep...i poked it a few times , then went to pick it up before it woke up. Maybe it was just in a deep sleep. the rabbit i am talking about had been very active greeting a few girls that day so he was worn out...so if the doe had an active day it could be a possibility. if not the I have no clue o.o

I hope she was just taking a nap, I have a goat like that! LOL I'd keep an eye on her stool and her appetite. That will tell you if all is well or not. :)

Poor bun!

"And there I was... doing binkies in a meadow full of dandelions... and all of a sudden, the dandelions disappear and this crazy new human I have is holding me, and I'm dripping wet! What a way to wake up!"

This made me LOL. Thanks, Miss M. She must have been thinking that. She's very stand-offish with me now.

It kind of reminds me of all the times the kids we're very zonked. The cries, the yells, the gentle shakes. Then they look at you, bleary eyed, like "Have you LOST your MIND?! I was SLEEPING!"

My son used to sleep sooo deeply I couldn't wake him up. He'd be still, too. I remember more than once in the toddler phase throwing cold water on him (eta: you could pick him up and spin in circles, and he'd stay in a deep sleep). He'd wake up SCREAMING...but at least I knew he was OK.

sounds like you have an offended rabbit if she is being standoffish...I'd say offer her a raisin or two as an apology and she might forgive you :) mind forgive me for just about any imagined offense if raisins are involved :p

Her sister is mad for her. Every time I reach my hand in to pet her, she gives me this look. I can only interpret it to mean, "You're not doing that to ME, lady."

I gave them some more hay, and some greens, and dabbed a teensy bit of molasses on their waterers. They licked off all the molasses (ignored the water) and ate all the greens, and now they're a little less annoyed with me.

Next time I'll have the daughter run for a willow branch rather than the hose, so at least I can wake them up with food.

Got one of my little ones in by colony lakes to do the same thing. You'd swear she was dead till you touch her the of she goes :p .

I'm glad your bunny is okay, RJ. Even if she doesn't like you very much right now. ;)

Thanks. Just build the yard. The building in the back is the inside part of the run, still under construction. They're enjoying running around :bunnyhop:
