I have a first time doe that was due today. All of our other does kindle on day 31. I think she missed that memo.

She had a nice haystache about 2 weeks ago and then again over the weekend. With our other does, that has always been a good sign. We put her nest box in and she just digs out all the bedding. We put the bedding back in every night and she digs it back out. This has been going on since day 28 (Monday). Is she just holding out? It was a confirmed breeding with a proven buck.

Tonight she was ravenous, so I am hoping she kindles tonight. I can't palpate anything. She won't cooperate. I placed my hand on her side to see if I could feel any kicks and I couldn't feel anything tonight. My kids say they have seen movement and kicks like the other does have. I don't know what to think. Did she miss? Is she just on the late side of normal?

I am in the exact same boat as you TerriG, so I look forward to what members have to add to this thread. My does are on days 31 and 30 from first confirmed breeding... and they also got to live with the buck for 3-4 days after that. I have read that some does like to purposely stress out their carers, so they wait as long as day 34-36 to kindle! Gah, I'm going to go grey!!

Terri,

I think she missed the memo too!

The fact that she had a haystache over the weekend is a good sign. If she only had one at the two week mark ( or more accurately, about day 17) it would likely be a false pregnancy from what I have read. My does have never done that so I have no personal experience to relate.

She may just be a little late for your liking, and will probably kindle in the next day or so. :)

If not, give her to day 36 and then you can rebreed her.

Rawfeeder, I am in the same boat with one of my does. I bred Lava and Pride on the same day, and Pride gave me seven popples today, but Lava is toying with me. She has made a nice nest, but hasn't pulled any fur yet... and I bred her to the Lilac buck that my Sistah OAF brought me, and am eagerly awaiting my first Lilac popples.

They say that patience is a virtue... but I don't have much of it when I am waiting for popples!

Just went out to do the final check of the night. Still no popples, but ... I happened to be at just the right angle while she was relaxed and saw a kick! It was like a little rat-a-tat-tat on her side. So now we keep waiting ... and refilling her nest box.

That is what I saw with Lulu and she had 5 on at LEAST day 33. She was in that hutch for 33 days, but not sure how many days before being caught she was bred.

Have fun. I think I had the running record at day 36, and then I believe Miss M or Ladysown beat me with day 40.

37 reporting in her. She usually goes really early, like day 28, I thought she really wasnt going to have them

This morning she was hanging out in the nest box and there were a few clumps of pulled hair. That's progress at least. I'll be checking on her often today.

__________ Fri Dec 28, 2012 4:19 pm __________

We were checking her every 2-3 hours. She finally did it! Luckily we had added bedding this morning, and she pulled a bit more fur. I still had to take some from our other doe. She had 6 beautiful kits! Two look White, 4 look Tort.

FINALLY!!! :p

:congratulations:

They sure are nice fat little guys. I think the extra time in the oven did them good! :)

Congratulations TerriG, those look like beautiful healthy popples! I hope I am not too far behind you now, and I cannot wait to watch them grow!! :bunnyhop:

I am still driving myself insane checking on my girls every couple of hours or whenever I hear a noise come from my rabbit room. I am now on day 32 and 31. My 32'er doe hasn't pulled any hair, but my 31'er has pulled enough for the both of them  This thread gives me hope, these are my first ever rabbit litters so it would be very disapointing if neither does took.

:congratulations: :mbounce: Popples!!! :p
Wonderful litter!

Hope yours come soon rawfeeder! Remember, patience is a virtue we all need. I think our rabbits like to try to instill that in us! But oh it is hard to wait! :x

Congrats on a happy ending. My rabbits sure read the book on how to driver your owner insane.

:congratulations: on the popples, TerriG!!!

Day 41. If I didn't know the numbers, I'd have sworn I had my math wrong! rabbittalk.com/surprise-popples-on-day-41-t10642.html

Definitely not an experience I want to repeat! I thought she'd missed. I had no idea, until she suddenly delivered, that I was on the brink of losing the doe... but that's certainly what would have happened in another day or two. She had a stuck kit. Ended up with one survivor, as one of the two died after 13 days.

Took them out of the nest box this morning to check everyone over. They all had nice full tummies :D 3 white of some kind, 3 tort. I also moved the 3 largest kits from the other doe to even out numbers. We'll see how she does.
